I am not a big fan of breakfast.

I am not a big fan of breakfast.
But I do love when April makes waffles with our Waring Pro. It makes me wish I had two mouths so I could get more goodness in my mouth(s) at the same time. Also, Instagram makes some darn nice photos of my syrup and real butter sitting on my antique marble top table.

Nutella

If you don’t like Nutella, I don’t like you. This is April, she does not have down syndrome but Nutella syndrome because she loves it so much. The Nutella gelato we consumed soon after was epic. You really can’t find bad gelato in Rome.

On the Cat Walk

Yeah, that is an old lady walking her cat in the middle of a park in Paris near Pont Sully. She acted like what she was doing was totally normal. The cat had an attitude by its stride and wasn’t afraid of dogs. I guess that is why I love France. You can walk your cat.

You Owe Me a Six-Pack of Zima

Zima was the original to Smirnoff Ice, Four Loko, Sparks, Mike’s Hard Lemonade and the bunch. Show some respect. If you are in Japan, I would love a six-pack. Join Zima on Facebook.

SXSW Apps You Need to Know

While Highlight seems to have stolen the show at SXSW this year, there are 2 equally impressive apps that also received much fanfare.

DRNK – Mobile Browser
Mobile browsers have been plagued by tiny text, but DRNK (pronounced “drunk”) browser aims to tackle mobile readability. Besides making text bigger, DRNK has Jitter Control, a feature that stabilizes the screen if you are walking, riding a train or on-the-move using the devices’ gyroscope. This is the core function of DRNK, but there was another reason for its creation tied to its name.

The original goal was to make a browser that would make drunk browsing possible but the idea progressed to something much more. This is evident in “Double Vision mode”, which stabilizes text when you are not moving but drunk.  Although this latter feature is more novelty than productivity, it is a good excuse to have a few pints.

Locati – Location Based / Travel
Simply put , Locati is a location-based app to manage your other location-based apps. Locati uses your location to determine the location-based app that has the largest user base and/or infrastructure wherever you are! Locati is a great way to find local startups or regional location apps you wouldn’t be able to find otherwise. With app-overload looming, “apps to manage your apps” will become ever-so important.

Great Store Name: Prize @ #sxsw

Great Store Name: Prize @ #sxswAustin has a lot of cool named businesses. Prize clothing store, Dirty Work construction and That’s How I Roll sushi top my list.

The Church Sessions

The Cross SessionI haven’t been to church in over 10 years! To ease crowding here at SXSW, some events have been moved inside local places of worship. I could be a cranky atheist, but I am fine with it. Capital Ballroom B of the Intercontinental Hotel is now in St. David’s.

Winning The Online Review Game

Digital reputation management
is one of those things that clients never really understood. Today, not addressing online reviews is a liability for businesses, especially “brick and mortars”. A rating based on reviews is often the deciding factor between “Jim’s Cupcakes” and “Cupcakes by Jim”.

Yes, I offer services in this area in various ways. One method is to evaluate existing negative reviews against the review site’s Terms of Service. Many times negative reviews contain TOS violations, acting on your behalf, I can remove these negative reviews raising your rating score. Picture your Yelp score of 3.0 now being a 4.5. Okay, enough with the shameless plug.

I feel great when I give a local business a glowing review. Responsible Pest Control really understands the power of online reviews and I was delighted to indulge them when they politely asked for one. Just asking goes a long way. Read my review here.

Austin, Texas

I will be in Austin, Texas from 3/8 until 3/13 for SXSW Interactive. I apologize in advance for the copious amount of posts and tweets about SXSW.
